SOCOM 4 Lead Designer Leaves For New Start-Up

Posted April 25, 2011 by M.H. Williams

According to Zipper Interactive’s senior community manager Jeremy Dunham, SOCOM 4 lead designer Travis Steiner has departed the developer.  Dunham tweeted about the departure, noting that Steiner wanted SOCOM 4 to ship prior to leaving for a new start-up.

SOCOM was released last week and currently has a Metacritic score of 66, with numerous players calling the game a clone of the reigning king, Call of Duty.  Add in the PlayStation Network outage this weekend and the game may be off to a rough start.

There has been no word about what company Steiner has joined.  His LinkedIn profile lists the company as just “A Startup”.
