Skyrim Sees Over 2 Million Mods Downloaded

Posted February 14, 2012 by James Brightman

Skyrim's success has been incredible. With over 10 million units shipped and a new record for fastest sales on Steam, Bethesda's blockbuster has impressed. Now Bethesda has revealed that the PC modding tool, Creation Kit, has already led to more than 2 million mods being downloaded in the week since the Creation Kit launched.

Bethesda's Todd Howard touched upon the popularity of the PC version during his DICE Summit keynote, revealing that the data from Valve's Steam shows that the average playtime for the PC version is a whopping 75 hours for the Game of the Year.

2,500 free mods have been uploaded to the service since the Creation Kit was made available on February 7, so that can only help boost Skyrim's longevity. Howard did note during his talk that he'd love to one day bring the modding ability to consoles.
