It's always interesting to see what choices a mainstream news service might make for games of the year. The Associated Press today unveiled its own list for the top 10 games of 2011, and it's actually a pretty solid list. Interestingly, the outlet went a little bit against the grain by not picking Skyrim as number one. That honor went to Valve's Portal 2.
"It's essentially a series of abstract puzzles, and yet, Portal 2 delivers one of the year's most satisfying — and malevolently funny — stories," wrote AP's Lou Kesten.
Here's the full top 10 list:
1. "Portal 2" (Valve)
2. "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" (Bethesda Softworks)
3. "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" (Square Enix)
4. "Bastion" (Supergiant Games)
5. "Batman: Arkham City" (Warner Bros.)
6. "InFamous 2" (Sony)
7. "The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword" (Nintendo)
8. "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception" (Sony)
9. "Rayman Origins" (Ubisoft)
10. "Dead Space 2" (Electronic Arts)
