Skylanders Secondary Market Flourishing

Posted February 17, 2012 by Ben Strauss

Activision’s massively popular Skylanders game has made a huge impact on the family gaming market, and new eBay listings for the toys seem to show off a thriving secondary market for the toys.  As families struggle to find toys in retail outlets, enterprising folks are starting to offer ‘rare’ statues for exorbitant prices.

A specific listing on eBay is offering close to $1,000 for six statues painted with gold and silver hues.  These sought after toys are so popular it seems that over 32 bids have been placed at the time of writing.  There remains just over 26 hours on the bidding.

Skylanders has been a massive success in the retail market, sparking a wave of sales for holiday season 2011.  Activision has acknowledged that well over 20 million units of the Skylanders toys have been sold at this point.
