Silent Hill Revisited in Theaters

Posted September 17, 2009 by David Radd

A sequel to the Silent Hill movie has been strongly rumored since the first had positive returns at the box office (nearly $98 million worldwide). After years of waiting and speculation, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed recently that pre-production for Silent Hill 2 is currently underway.

Writer Roger Avary and producer Samuel Hadida will both return for the horror sequel. Avary (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Beowulf) is also penning the movie adaptation of Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Filming is set to begin in 2010 after the fourth Resident Evil film finishes shooting, which is also being produced by Davis Films.

While rumored to be a movie trilogy, the wavering commitment of Avary and original director Christophe Gans means that the sequel will release roughly five years after the original film. Still, if Silent Hill 2 performs well, maybe we won't have to wait a half decade for the third film.
