Saints Row the Third Shipments Hit 3.8 Million as THQ Realigns

Posted January 25, 2012 by M.H. Williams

For the third time in the past year, THQ has announced that it is moving away from licensed titles targeted at children.  Instead, the company will focus on finding its success in the core market and creating new properties for digital platforms.

“THQ will be a more streamlined organization focused only on our strongest franchises,” said Brian Farrell, President and CEO, THQ.

“The success of Saints Row: The Third is an example of what our revised strategy and focus can achieve. We have now shipped 3.8 million units globally and are currently expecting to ship between five and six million units lifetime on this title. Additionally, our robust digital content offerings for this game have resulted in the highest digital revenue of any console title in our history.”

THQ five internal studios are working on these core titles, with the upcoming launches of Darksiders II & UFC Undisputed 3. In addition, the studios are hammering away behind the scenes on Company of Heroes, inSane, the next Saints Row, Warhammer 40,000, and the unnamed title coming from Patrice Désilets’ team.
