Saints Row Developer Creating New Action RPG

Posted August 11, 2010 by M.H. Williams

As a part of last week’s earnings report, THQ executives restated their intent to expand THQ intellectual property into other forms of media, not unlike the upcoming SyFy collaboration for the Red Faction franchise. It appears part of this expansion will also include new internal IP from one of THQ’s best developers.

According to a job posting on the Volition official site, the developer seems to be working on an all-new action RPG series. The posting itself was for a design director, a position that once established, will lead to the hiring of an entire design team.

The job opening provides vague clues as to the nature of the project, with the mention of “high-powered creative talent in the entertainment industry.” That could refer to the Syfy Channel deal with Red Faction. It could also refer to the rumored team-up between THQ and director Guillermo del Toro. Only time and Volition will tell which direction this news will take us.
