Rumble Entertainment Startup from Former BioWare, Zynga, EA Executives Secures $15M

Posted December 1, 2011 by Ben Strauss

Rumble Entertainment, a mobile and browser start-up, has announced that it's raised $15 million in funding from their first investment round.  That $15 million will be put to use by capable hands; former BioWare CEO Greg Richardson, Zynga game designer John Yoo, EA2D VP Mark Spenner, and former EA VP and CTO David O’Connor are all responsible for starting up Rumble earlier this year.

"The future of video games points not at the casual audience, but rather people who know they love video games,” said CEO Richardson.  He hopes that the company will be able to "successfully marry what makes console and PC games wonderful in terms of engagement and immersion with the lifestyle of not always being in front of a big-screen television."

The studio currently holds about 25 employees, with most of them coming from various studios and publishers.  Rumble hopes to bring together major console gaming aspects with the conveniences of social and mobile platforms.

Rumble is currently working on two titles, both of which are slated for an early 2012 launch.  Rumble is also currently hard at work on their own publishing platform, one that will allow other studios to offer their titles as well.
