RockYou, a social entertainment firm, has signed former EA executive Julie Shumaker to the company as the senior vice president/GM of media. Shumaker will add to RockYou’s media business to deliver innovative programs designed to monetize and engage consumers.
“The majority of my career has been in entertainment, and the most rewarding portion has been the years I’ve spent in gaming,” said Shumaker. “It’s the most compelling space in which an advertiser can be. The medium provides brands a path to interact with consumers when they are deeply engaged, experiencing content and community that excites them - there’s no higher value per engagement.”

Only somebody who understands both gaming and marketing as well as Julie can see to it that our ad strategies evolve at the same rapid pace as the games themselves.”
Shumaker, named one of the top “25 women to watch” by Advertising Age and Digital Media Wire in 2005, has experience with EA, Double Fusion, 4INFO and Yahoo. She was instrumental in driving branding initiatives for The Sims.
