Rock Band Senior Designer Dan Teasdale Leaves Harmonix for Twisted Pixel

Posted July 2, 2010 by Ben Strauss

Dan Teasdale, senior designer for Rock Band, has resigned from Harmonix to pursue a more “hands on” development opportunity. Today, Teasdale has announced that he will be heading to Twisted Pixel, development studio for Comic Jumper and ‘Splosion Man.

In a post from his blog, Teasdale expressed the desire to work with smaller games in order to have a more hands-on influence in the creation process. "I want to be able to help drive the vision and direction of a game," he said, "but at the same time be hands on and physically implement and iterate on the low level of making games in a more substantial way than time affords me when working as a lead on multi-hundred person titles."

Teasdale was the lead designer for Rock Band 3, set for release sometime later this year. Though Beatles: Rock Band enjoyed higher sales than Guitar Hero 5 back in October 2009, Teasdale’s move could foreshadow something more than just a simple move as the music games genre has seen a steady decrease in sales for some time now.
