Rock Band Losing Less Money Year-Over-Year

Posted August 6, 2010 by Ben Strauss

Viacom recently announced good news to investors as the business conglomerate has posted an operating profit of $789 million, up 14 percent year-over-year within the media division. The gains were a result of stated lower losses from the Rock Band franchise.

Though Viacom has been less than happy with the performance of the game over the past year, Rock Band: The Beatles surpassed expectations. Rock Band 3 is well on the way and Viacom hopes it'll help them recoup losses on the franchise, which is in a genre that has withered a bunch among casual and core audiences.
