Rock Band 3 Touring this Holiday

Posted March 9, 2010 by David Radd

The future of Rock Band, beyond Green Day: Rock Band, has been mostly left up to the imagination of consumers... that is, until today. Harmonix officially announced on their Facebook page that the third full installment of Rock Band is indeed on the way.

“Harmonix is developing Rock Band 3 for worldwide release this holiday season!” reads the posting. “The game, which will be published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, will innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band. Stay tuned for more details!”

Last year, Dhani Harrison said that he was working to make the instruments for Rock Band 3 “more real so people can actually learn how to play music while playing the game.”

Rock Band designer John Drake said that, though the official line from Harmonix was that they had no announcements to make. Now that we know that Rock Band 3 exists, time will tell if Harmonix at the time was just covering its butt or if Harrison was, as Drake said, "speculating wildly"
