Resident Evil Creator Recruits MadWorld Director Nishikawa for Tango Games

Posted May 10, 2010 by Ben Strauss

The director of MadWorld, Shigenori Nishikawa, is heading to potentially greener pastures by joining up with the venerable Japanese game designer Shinji Mikami at his start-up Tango Games. Nishikawa, one of the three founders for Platinum Games (which is working on Vanquish), also did design work on Resident Evil 4 and Dino Crisis 2 and 3 at Capcom.

Nishikawa is joining former Grasshopper Manufacture sound director Masafumi Takada and art directors Ryosuke Kaiba and Naoki Katakai at Tango.

With today's news, Tango Games, a new studio aiming at 100 employees “to raise the game makers of the future," has added yet another talented artist and developer to the fold, and aims to continue this trend for the next seven years. Though Tango has yet to announce a new title, the talent coming on board suggests that Mikami is vying for another title of the scope and scale as those that made him the name he is today.

Nishikawa has stated that he is keenly interested in another MadWorld, but given his previous work experience with Mikami on such games as Resident Evil 4, the prospect of a sequel anytime soon seems even less likely than before.
