Resident Evil 6 'Biggest Project' for Capcom

Posted January 27, 2012 by Ben Strauss

With confirmation at last, the work now begins in earnest for Resident Evil 6, which is aiming to be the biggest project ever undertaken by Capcom.  With a rough Eastern industry and slagging sales for the publishing giant, the announcement of Resident Evil 6 could just be the biggest gamble the company has had to make in a long time.

"Between the 150 staff members in Japan and everyone around the world, we have more than 600 people involved. A lot of work has gone into this game," said Hiroyuki Kobayashi, executive producer. "Resident Evil 6 is by far and away the most ambitious game in the series."

Resident Evil is traditionally one of the biggest titles in gaming, especially from the Japanese market.  While various Resident Evil titles have been released since the last canon title, many are now expecting RE6 to be a major step forward thanks in part to some of the biggest characters in the series working together.

Capcom has yet to release any information of the game outside of the reveal trailer, but the release date is scheduled for November 20 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
