Report: Xbox 360 Pro No More

Posted August 5, 2009 by David Radd

Recent reports suggested that Microsoft would be phasing out its Xbox 360 Pro console in favor of the Xbox 360 Elite and Arcade. Now pictures sent by a GameStop employee to Kotaku indicate that the earlier rumor is coming to pass.

The adjacent picture shows the old box for the Xbox 360 Arcade and the new box, with the more recent one on the right mentioning only the Arcade and Elite versions of the console and not the Pro. Many think that the elimination of the Pro SKU will lead to a reduction in price of the Elite model in Fall 2009.

Notice the dual columns on the right.

I already have a 120 gig hd in my Pro system so I'm wondering if they will introduce a bigger hard drive.

This is probably to make room for a new bundle in the future.... Natal, anyone?

Or an attempt to force people to buy a system bundle that isn't selling so well.
