Report: Uncharted 2 Sells One Million Copies

Posted November 12, 2009 by James Brightman

Uncharted 2 is one of the big game releases this holiday season, and it's hugely important to Sony's PS3 holiday push when combined with the price cut and new slim model. Having completed the game a couple weeks ago, this editor can safely say it will sell PS3 systems - it's that good.

The game is also apparently selling quite well. NPD's October figures are coming today, so we should have some official data soon, but in the meantime we noticed on Geoff Keighley's Facebook page that he said Sony has sold a million copies of Uncharted 2 so far.

We're not sure if that's a U.S. or global figure. We've pinged SCEA for comment but have not heard back yet.  EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich commented earlier this week, "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is expected to be the top-selling game for the month of October 2009 at over 600,000 units.  If sales trends continue through the holidays, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will only be the third first-party title on the PlayStation 3 to sell over 1 million units domestically."

Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig told IndustryGamers recently that the game is "exceeding expectations" and has "outsold the first game by many, many times." You can check out the full interview here.
