Report: Transmission Hazy, 20 Employees Laid Off

Posted October 1, 2009 by David Radd

Demonstrating that things are just as tough down under as they are in the U.S., Gamasutra is reporting that Transmission Games has cut its staff. The indie Melbourne developer has given notice to over 20 employees that October 1 was their last day in the office.

Transmission Games recently had two of their titles release: Ashes Cricket 2009 and Heroes Over Europe, so the layoffs may have been a byproduct of those projects concluding. Still, indications were not given for which internal teams were affected by the layoffs.

Transmission Games was founded back in 1996 and was known as IR Gurus up until 2008. Transmission is one of Australia's longest running studios. What impact the recent layoffs will have on the studio's future is not yet clear.
