A couple weeks ago we reported that Transmission Games had to cut more than 20 of its staff. Now, however, the situation has gotten much worse for the Melbourne studio behind Heroes Over The Pacific, Heroes Over Europe and Ashes Cricket 2009, as Kotaku has learned that the developer has had to shut down and make the remaining staff redundant.
The studio apparently went into liquidation with an administrator being appointed earlier today. Transmission Games was founded back in 1996 and was known as IR Gurus up until 2008. Transmission had been one of Australia's longest running studios.
A combination of cancelled projects and troubles in receiving payments from publishers (Red Mile in particular) put Transmission in a bad spot. One title that was said to be in the works was a LucasArts game based on George Lucas' WW2 fighter plane movie Red Tails.
We wish those affected by this closure the best of luck.
