In a memo by Sega of America [thanks NeoGAF] from a meeting with Sony, plans for the PS3's motion controller were laid out in detail. The motion controller will apparently launch in Spring 2010 and specifically in March for Japan, with four to five million in sales expected worldwide.
According to the document, SCEA was going to work with Sega to identify IP that would work with the motion controller. The companies also talked about the motion controller differentiating certain PS3 releases and "PSP/PS3 interoperability" that would encourage users to buy both the PS3 and PSP versions of the games.
Sega West President Mike Hayes recently said to IndustryGamers that for the Sony motion controller, "we'd like to think that in early 2010 we'll be making announcements."

Saying it is an extension of your body is just leaving it open for MS to come back with Natal uses your body, you are the controller. Seems too pricey for me though, I’m gonna wait to see if something worthwhile comes out before taking the plunge.
