Report: Batman: Arkham Asylum Sells Almost 2 Million

Posted September 10, 2009 by James Brightman

Batman: Arkham Asylum, from Eidos and Warner Bros., has been a critical darling, garnering a 92 on Metacritic. The Rocksteady Studios developed superhero game is apparently no slouch at retail either. Although an official sales tally hasn't been made available just yet, according to the LA Times, the game has sold almost 2 million copies within its first month. It's not clear if they're referring to North America or worldwide, but we've reached out to PR for clarification/confirmation and we'll be sure to let you know what we hear.

While Batman is doing great for Warner Bros., the company knows it has plenty of other DC Comics characters that could also fare well if given the proper treatment. Yesterday, Warner Bros. announced the formation of DC Entertainment to leverage its properties across media like movies and video games.

Hopefully we'll be seeing more great games from the DC Universe soon. If Batman: Arkham Asylum is any indication of future quality, we could be in for a treat.
