Remedy Entertainment Expresses Interest In Alan Wake Sequel

Posted June 23, 2010 by Ben Strauss

With the recent release of Alan Wake after years of delay, Remedy has already expressed the desire to work on the sequel to the much-hyped game. An interview conducted by IGN with head of franchise development Oskari Hakkinen revealed the desire to continue to tell the story of Bright Falls and its mysteries.

Though the sales figures for Alan Wake have yet to come out, Remedy has been confident due to the warm reception that the game received. With multiple downloadable content packages on the way, Remedy has been vocal about using these DLC packages to bridge the gap between the game and a potential sequel. “[Microsoft] are throwing the idea around of more episodes," says Hakkinen, "but you know the size of our studio. We're a small team. But yeah, Microsoft are interested in more episodes. Where we're sitting right now is we'll see how these [first two add-ons] go."

“We're happy with the partnership and they're happy with the game," Hakkinen puts it. "I don't see any reason why we wouldn't continue with Microsoft and why we wouldn't renew the IP ... we definitely want a sequel of course," says Hakkinen.

Let's hope they actually release it on PC this time, so that a more mature audience can appreciate it!

@Mr. Softcheck: A more mature audience? You mean the pirates that will torrent the PC version?
