Rage's Mixed Reviews Leaves Doom 4 'Indefinitely Postponed' [Rumor]

Posted October 21, 2011 by M.H. Williams

Doom 4, which was originally announced in May of 2008, was put on hold for id Software’s original title Rage.  Unfortunately, Rage has been released to uneven reviews and a poor PC port, leading some fans to avoid the title.

Kotaku is reporting that these issues have led to Zenimax deciding to “indefinitely postpone” the development of Doom 4.  An anonymous source has said that the problems with Rage have led to a “serious lack of confidence in the project management at id.”

Currently this is all complete rumor, as Zenimax has not responded to inquiries.

Update:  Bethesda VP of PR and Marketing Pete Hines has called the rumor "complete bollocks" on his personal Twitter account.

"Games are done when they are done and no title under development at id has been postponed – indefinitely or otherwise." he added.
