Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein Offerings All Bound for iPhone

John Carmack and id software have been heavily involved in mobile games in the past, with titles like the Doom RPG and Orcs & Elves raising the bar for titles on cell phones. Talking with ShackNews, Carmack confirmed that the Quake franchise will be coming to iPhones in no small way.

"We will be trying to put some other developers on the future classic titles. I don't think I'm going to be doing all of the work on Quake, Quake 2 and Quake Arena on there," said Carmack, adding, "I may need to go in there and make sure certain specific things are done the way I want them to be."

The acquisition by ZeniMax will have no negative impact on id's mobile offerings with Wolfenstein RPG, Doom 2 RPG and Doom Classic all being slated for release and even Rage being considered.

"ZeniMax is behind the iPhone. Todd Howard at Bethesda is a huge iPhone fan. I don't think anything likely is going to change," noted Carmack. "I certainly want to do this MegaTexture demo for the 3GS stuff, work on that myself."

IndustryGamers also recently talked with Carmack about the ZeniMax acquisition and its effect on id Software.
