PSP Minis Will Have Patches, Online Multiplayer Being Considered

Posted September 21, 2009 by David Radd

Last week, Sony indicated that PSP Minis would not have the ability to download updates or have online multiplayer. Speaking to Destructoid, Director of PlayStation Network Operations and Strategic Planning Eric Lempel clarified Sony's position.

"So you can patch Minis," said Lempel, "but we won't have multiplayer functions in the beginning. Basically, to get these developers on board, and to make it easier to test and get it through the pipeline, we won't be allowing that functionality for the first stage of Minis."

When asked about whether DLC and online multiplayer will come later, Lempel responded, "It's something we will consider in the future."

Ultimately demand may dictate whether these features get included in future Minis titles, whether it comes from the development side or the consumer side.
