This happening is not so much dependent on the PS3 doing pretty well over a long period of time (which I think will happen) but on whether Wii sales will drop off a cliff. The less likely scenario is for the Xbox360 and PS3 to catch up to the system in price and offer motion controlling systems bundled with the system - Nintendo still has its own "family friendly appeal" that would be difficult for the other systems to match. The more likely scenario (as detailed above) is that the Wii gets replaced and Nintendo starts over with "Wii HD" or whatever; Nintendo has denied it up and down, so we'll just have to wait and see if it happens.

I agree that if Nintendo abandons the Wii for an upgrade than maybe the other two could cetch up over time. But if Nintendo decides they want the Wii to be a 10 year system then nobody is cetching it.

Even if the Wii didn't sell 1 more unit (meaning they ceased production today and pulled all units from stores), it would take the PS3 several years just to catch up to the Wii. Add in that the Wii is still whooping PS3 in sales, and I think this analyst is high if he thinks PS3 will beat Wii, PS3 is likely to finish 3rd and would be lucky to even/ finish 2nd

This analyst, David Mercer, seems to be under the impression that the industry will not see a significantly longer cycle than last generation, and yet everyone from all three console makers, major third party execs, and development luminaries such as Will Wright all say the opposite. The only possible scenario where this could play out is if Wii HD is released this fall and the current Wii is taken off the market rather than remain as a lower priced alternative, which would be more likely. I'm still skeptical of the existence of Wii HD, as much as I like watching Michael Pachter on Bonus Round. I would think major analysts would at least be aware of WHY Nintendo is succeeding in the face of so much naysaying from followers of traditional business models, and the answer is the Blue Ocean strategy.

I do believe Sony will pass Microsoft if not this year maybe next but i don't know why 360 and ps3 fans think this race between the two is more important because both companys are last . Sony is going to have to sell alot of ps3 to outsell the Wii and with a great game lineup , 3D gaming , motion control gaming and HD movies i will give them a shot but i don't think it's a long shot like everyone think it's is.

How Consistent are the characters portrayed like in FFVII before the events. They need to look at how much they make you DISLIKE, or hate the bad guy in the scene before the scene happens. They need to make sure they are NOT shy about what kind of personality they are trying to make. Because I swear they want to make you cry, but at the same time they want to make it a dark game. It's kinda hard to care about a dark character to the point of crying for most people. In other words I think there attempts at change is getting in the way.
