PS3 to Only Sell Half As Many As Xbox 360 in November, says Pachter

Posted December 5, 2011 by James Brightman

Xbox 360's Black Friday performance of nearly 1 million sold during the week was certainly a good indicator of how the console's performed in November. In advance of the NPD data coming later this week, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter has forecast 1,445,000 Xbox 360 units sold  (up 5% y-o-y), which is just about double his forecast for 750,000 PS3 units (up 41% y-o-y).

As for the Wii, he's predicting 1,050,000 Wii units sold (down 17% year-over-year), along with 750,000 DS units (down 50% y-o-y), and 760,000 3DS units.

Overall, November should represent the third consecutive month of positive growth for game sales, as the industry looks to finish 2011 with great sales following months of declines. Pachter has forecast software sales of $1.50 billion, up 3% compared to last year’s $1.45 billion, driven by Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Saints Row: The Third, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and others.
