The NPD Group has just released its sales data for October, and while the tracking firm no longer issues hardware sales data in its reports, NPD analyst Anita Frazier did have some good news for Sony: the PlayStation Move PS3 console bundle has seen an uptick in sales.
"While the PS3 overall did not experience an increase from September to October, the PS3 bundle with Move experienced a 15% increase over September 2010," she said, referring to the 320GB PS3 bundle that comes with Move, a PlayStation Eye and Sports Champions.
As for other hardware, the Nintendo DS was the best selling platform despite some people waiting for the much anticipated 3DS, which launches next March. Also, NPD noted that the Xbox 360 was the only platform to realize a unit sales improvement over last October.
November and December should be telling when it comes to the motion controls battle. Sony remains very confident, saying that Move "greatly exceeded expectations," while Microsoft believes it can definitely hit 5 million Kinects sold this holiday.
