Sony Computer Entertainment announced today that it has acquired Media Molecule. The developer of the acclaimed LittleBigPlanet will become an official part of SCE Worldwide Studios.
“Since they burst onto the gaming scene, Media Molecule have proved to be a truly exciting and innovative studio, who have proved their world-class credentials with the creation of the incredible LittleBigPlanet,” said Shuhei Yoshida, President, SCE Worldwide Studios. “SCE WWS is all about creating ambitious, innovative and ground breaking games, traits that Media Molecule clearly have. To bring them into our family proves our dedication to creating fantastic new experiences that we believe will cement our position as industry leaders.”
The Surrey, England developer has received over 90 industry awards for their work on LittleBigPlanet. The popular PS3 title has also seen over two million user created levels by the community.

i was just at MIGS, I saw him speak. It was very interesting, though he lost a lot of people when he went in depth with the details of memory management. Only us programmers stayed real interested. It's a very cool tool, it should be very useful to other developers and I hope it does go out to them.
