With Sony’s growing interest in 3D as “the next thing,” the PS3 has been readying for all sorts of new toys coming out later this year. The next firmware update will bolster the system’s 3D capabilities with added support for Blu-ray movies and YouTube videos in 3D. SCEE senior director Mick Hocking has promised support for 3D broadcasts through the Europe-exclusive PlayTV service as well.
Hocking also added that cameras and 3D photos are expected to be a major hit with consumers. “As you start taking 3D pictures of your family or 3D camcorder movies, you can play those back on PS3, too," he noted.
The new update comes into effect this September.

That's awesome stuff Sony. Youtube is BIG, Pictures are big, hmmmm wait, pictures are too big. Aren't 67.8% of all US adults obese? Not sure if they want to be in 3D. See my 3d thighs!
Now they literally jump out at you! Dad your stomach is coming out of the tv and pressing the coffe table. As long as adults have children they might get in the picture TAKING act though.
but more importantly the camera buying act. Which leads me to wonder if there camera will be 'PROPRIETARY'. Please Sony don't screw up with this mistake again, PLEASE! Make your camera compatible with others, and with the memory of others. Not just memory but OTHER 3DTV brands!
But the young crowd will get it, because it will be in style! Where is YOUR 3dcamera? Where have you been? Get with the program! I can't wait to see the youtube 3d section. Will it be call 3tube? you3, tube3d.
