Following our report on Sony’s 3D gaming push starting in Japan on June 10, Sony confirmed via a post on the official PlayStation blog that the previously mentioned titles would also be released in North America on the same day. As previously reported, WipEout HD, Super Stardust HD, and Pain are the first titles seeing the update. According an official PlayStation poster, previous owners of the titles “will be able to download free patches that enable stereoscopic 3D gameplay.”
Unlike the Japanese release, the Pain upgrade seems to be free, and Motorstorm: Pacific Rift’s 3D demo seems to no longer require a voucher from the purchase of a 3DTV.
The post also announced that one of the inaugural PlayStation Move titles, The Fight: Lights Out will be available in stereoscopic 3D upon release. The game joins the previously mentioned titles, Killzone 3 and Gran Turismo 5 as PlayStation 3 games available in 3D. The firmware update for 3D Blu-ray playback is still coming later this year.
