PS3, 360 Ports Likely to Flood Wii 2

Posted May 12, 2011 by James Brightman

PS3 and Xbox 360, for all their major hardware architectural differences, have games that look quite similar (especially on the multiplatform titles). Well, if new comments from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot are any indication, Nintendo's Wii successor should have visuals about on par with Microsoft and Sony.

Speaking on the Ubisoft earnings call, Guillemot noted that Project Cafe is a "fantastic platform" and he predicted that it would be "extremely successful."

On top of that, from a publishing perspective, Guillemot stressed that the important thing for Ubisoft is that they'll be able to reuse a lot of their game assets from PS3 and Xbox 360 titles (basically port their catalog over to Wii 2). "What we see is that we will be able to leverage a lot of the work we do for Xbox 360 and PS3 while we create games for the platform," he said. "So we will not have to redo completely the games that we create. We'll be able to use all the capacity the console is giving but also use all the work we do for the other platforms."

Nintendo will unveil its new console on June 7 during E3 week in Los Angeles. IndustryGamers will be there.
