Prince of Persia Movie Fast Approaching $300 Million at Global Box Office

Posted June 22, 2010 by James Brightman

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time didn't immediately light up the box office in the U.S. when it hit theaters in May in conjunction with Ubisoft's newest game in the franchise. The Jerry Bruckheimer production, directed by Mike Newell, was quite mediocre in this editor's humble opinion, but for a game movie, you might say it was "good."  Apparently, the international crowds are really digging the film, as it's now managed to rake in over $293 million worldwide. Its U.S. total was just $80.5 million.

At this rate, the movie is likely to hit the $300 million mark at the international box office before it makes its exit. That would make Prince of Persia the biggest game movie of all time, surpassing Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, according to Box Office Mojo.
