Posted September 13, 2011 by James Brightman

Sony's just revealed during its press conference at the Tokyo Game Show that PlayStation Vita will ship in Japan on December 17. It's expected that Vita won't hit Western markets until early 2012.

The 3G enabled version of Vita in Japan will also offer service through carrier Docomo. There will be pre-paid data plans available. Users can pay 980 yen (about $13) for 20 hours or 4980 yen (about $65) for 100 hours.

A full Japanese Vita launch lineup also has surfaced, as noted by Joystiq. We'll be sure to bring you more on Vita's North American plans as the details surface.
