PlayStation Move Needs More Core Games, Says David Cage

In talking with GamesIndustry.biz, Quantic Dream studio boss David Cage says that Sony’s PlayStation Move peripheral could use more support in order to be a success for the brand.

"It really depends on the software because the hardware works really well," said Cage. "If it's only about casual entertainment and casual games I don't think it's going to play a big role in the life of the console. If it can get more support from triple-A titles then that will be interesting."

The accessory will be launching later this month in the U.S. and U.K., and Sony is banking on it extending the PlayStation 3’s lifecycle. Cage is putting his money where his mouth is, with a Move-compatible version of Heavy Rain slated to be release later this year. He’s looking forward to a small spike in sales due to the new version of the game, with an additional patch going out to gamers who already own the title.

"I think we're going to get some sales of the game by releasing this version, which is of course why Sony asked us to do it. Is it going to sell zillions of copies? I don't know, I think people who were already interested in the game have already bought it,” said Cage. "I'm also glad that those people have access to a free patch for the new version of Heavy Rain. For some the (DualShock) controller was maybe a barrier, and hopefully they'll pick up the game with Move.”
