Posted October 21, 2010 by M.H. Williams

PlaySpan announced today that it will be partnering with MMO publishing house NCSoft to distribute some of the publisher’s hottest games to a new market. PlaySpan will be offering games from three of NCSoft’s biggest brands: Guild Wars, City of Heroes, and Aion. Guild Wars titles including Guild Wars Game of the Year Edition, Guild Wars Eye of the North, and Guild Wars Trilogy will be offered at prices between $19.99 and $39.99. City of Heroes: Going Rogue Complete Collection and Aion: Assault on Balaurea will both be available for $39.99.

“PlaySpan provides us with the opportunity to expand the reach of our paying audience,” said Keri Taylor, NCSoft Director of North American Sales. “With a vibrant community and a large selection of payment methods, their Marketplace offers the opportunity to monetize players we couldn’t otherwise acquire.”

NCSoft joins other partners who use PlaySpan to sell games and digital goods, including CCP Games, Aeria Games, GamersFirst, G4, Ntreev, Frogster, Gravity, and Joymax. The company recently unveiled its Monetization-as-a-Service platform, allowing consumers to shop for titles and digital items, create profiles, rate games, and participate in special community offers.

“Our goal is to provide end to end Monetization-as-a-Service solutions for our game industry partners,” said Karl Mehta, CEO of PlaySpan. “From the Marketplace on the front end to catalog management, contextual merchandising and payment solutions on the backend we have the entire spectrum covered in one integrated platform.”
