Pipeworks Studio Head Resigns

Posted October 13, 2011 by Ben Strauss

Pipeworks Studio head Robert Daly, who has been under pressure from various members of the United States Special Forces for faking his military credentials, has responded to the allegations brought against him.

Throughout his tenure with Pipeworks, Daly represented himself as a member of the Green Berets, something he used while working on Spike TV's Deadliest Warrior.  Members of the United States Special Special Forces called him out on his claim, saying that though he did get assigned to a Special Forces group, his job as an intelligence analyst did not make him a member of the closed group.

Daly has issued the following statement, resigning himself from the studio and removing himself from appearing on further Deadliest Warrior episodes.

"I am honored to have served with the 12th Special Forces Group as an Intelligence Analyst (96B) from 1991 until 1994. While I wore the green beret as part of my uniform, I utterly regret that I have misrepresented my role by creating the impression that I was a “Green Beret.” I have nothing but the utmost respect for the Green Berets and my fellow servicemen, and I respectfully apologize to the Special Forces community.

"At this point in time for the best interests of Pipeworks Software and F9E I am voluntarily resigning my position of Studio Head of Pipeworks effective immediately. Furthermore I have no plans on appearing in any more episodes of Deadliest Warrior.

"Very respectfully,
Robert Daly"

Foundation 9 offered their support for Daly when the accusations first came to light. We have contacted them to see if they have further comment on the matter.

UPDATE: Foundation 9 Entertainment said that it is company policy to not comment on “personnel matters.” They noted that Lindsay Gupton, industry veteran of over two decades, is now the studio head of Pipeworks Software.
