Penny Arcade Adds Game Industry Coverage from Ars' Ben Kuchera

Posted January 16, 2012 by M.H. Williams

It seems another large name in gaming journalism has moved to a new position.  Ars Technica senior gaming editor Ben Kuchera has announced that he’s leaving the site to take a position over at Penny Arcade.  Kuchera will be handling game industry news for the webcomic brand.

“I could have happily worked for Ars Technica for the rest of my life, but when I received a call from Penny Arcade's Jerry Holkins, I began to think how great it would be to embark on a new adventure. Penny Arcade offered me the same thing that made me so insistent on writing for Ars: the ability to try to do my own thing at a site I love and respect,” Kuchera said in his farewell post on Ars.

“Making the move to writing about the gaming industry for Penny Arcade is going to take some adjustment, but they've done everything right when it comes to expanding their brand, and I'm proud to have been asked to be a part of those efforts. You'll be able to find my coverage at Penny Arcade starting in the next few weeks, and we'll be able to share more details very soon.”

In a Q&A thread on the Penny Arcade forums, Kuchera outlined the type of content we can expect from him in the future.

“We're kicking around thoughts on how to organize the content, but to start you can expect great, in-depth stories every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. After that we'll think about what else we can do while keeping the standards high. Expect fewer, longer stories,” he wrote.

IndustryGamers wishes him in luck in his new position.
