PAX East Will Occupy Boston Until 2023

Posted February 15, 2012 by M.H. Williams

The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority has signed a deal with the organizers of PAX East to keep the event in Boston for the next ten years.  Over the past two years, PAX East has attracted more than 70,000 to Boston, with this year’s event happening at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center on April 6-8.

“Over the last year, MassDiGI has worked towards building a strong public-private partnership across industry, academia, and government in support of the state’s digital games cluster,” said Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray.

“Massachusetts is excited that PAX East shares that vision for the industry across the Commonwealth.  PAX East’s commitment to bringing the largest East Coast video gaming convention to Boston and providing an annual donation to MassDiGI complements ongoing collaboration to increase economic activity within the state and foster knowledge-transfer between Massachusetts and the rest of the world.”

PAX East has also agreed to make a $25,000 annual contribution to the Massachusetts Digital Games Institute (MassDIGI), totaling $325,000 over the next ten years.

PAX East is a wonderful event giving those on the East Coast the chance to partake in the gaming community that's usually centered on the other side of the country.  Yours truly will be attending the event again, so if you see me, say hi!
