Electronic Arts confirmed today that Pandemic is one of the casualties of its big cost reduction plan, which will see EA cut 1,500 staff across the publisher's facilities. Although the brand and some franchises will live on within EALA, most of the staff (200 or so people) are now looking for work.
Here's the good news though. According to the Twitter page of Pandemic's Drew Marlowe, the affected employees appear to be getting "decent" severance packages. Furthermore, a tweet from Gearbox Software's Mike Neumann indicates that the studio behind the successful Borderlands would love to hire some of the ex-Pandemic staff. "Well, if anyone from Pandemic would like to work at Gearbox, we'd love to have you! Sorry, about a lousy day," said Neumann.
The jobs page over at Gearbox indicates that the developer is looking for an engine programmer, a visual effects artist, level designers for single and multiplayer, a platform (360 or PS3) specialist, and more.
