Rumors of the next DS system from Nintendo are currently making the rounds, and functionality ideas are being floated around. Monster Hunter Tri producer Ryozo Tsujimoto put greater online functionality on the top of his wish list, and Nnooo Games Creative Director Nic Watt would like to see both GPS and 3G tech incorporated.
"We would also be able to add location-based features to games," added the Nnooo Games Creative Director to ONM.
Clearly there's demand from developers for Nintendo to make their next portable device into a fully-functional internet device, similar to the iPhone and App Store – only time will tell if Nintendo decides to go that way.
