Oblivion Is The 'Gran Turismo' of RPGs, says Todd Howard

Posted September 24, 2009 by James Brightman

In the newest edition of our special Playing Favorites series, Bethesda Softworks' Todd Howard talks about his favorite games of all time. One of his top picks is Sony's Gran Turismo 3 for the PS2. What's more interesting, however, is that he said this meticulously detailed racing title had a direct influence on Bethesda's blockbuster RPG Oblivion (which, by the way, this editor put around 120 hours of game time into).

"Oddly enough, many design decisions in this game [Gran Turismo 3] influenced Oblivion, which I was working on at the time, to the point of me referring to Oblivion as 'The Gran Turismo of RPGs' around the office," Howard commented.

We recommend that you check out the full list of games from Howard. He's got some great picks.
