NPD Delays May Data Until July

Posted June 2, 2010 by James Brightman

The monthly release of video game retail sales data from The NPD Group in the U.S. has become something of a "nerdfest" in the industry as journalists and analysts look to scour the results and pick them apart from every angle. Following a hugely disappointing April, it's looking like May fared much better, but we won't know for at least another month unfortunately.

NPD has confirmed with IndustryGamers today that it's not releasing its May video game sales data until early July. Apparently a "significant change" is being made to the company's IT (architecture) in order to "better serve all of our clients and research partners."

We're not sure if this will result in any change to the data normally provided to media, but we'll bring you further details as we get them.
