Nintendo Miyamoto Interview 'Exactly' What The Mario Creator Said, Insists Wired

Posted December 8, 2011 by James Brightman

Nintendo has reassured gamers and the industry at large that Shigeru Miyamoto isn't stepping down or changing his role at the company, but Wired's Chris Kohler is not backing down. Kohler asserts that the comments Miyamoto made about taking a different position and retiring from his current one are accurate.

“Miyamoto’s comments as presented in our story are exactly what Miyamoto said, and presented with the full context of his remarks,” Kohler said to G4tv.com. “We are absolutely standing by those statements as reported.”

While it's possible that there was a "misunderstanding" as Nintendo claims, the translator used in the interview was Nintendo's own Yasuhiro Minagawa, "who has been Miyamoto’s translator for a very, very, very long time,” Kohler added.

Do you think Miyamoto is indeed looking to take a smaller role, prompting damage control from Nintendo PR, or was this truly an error in translation?
