Nintendo Launching DSi XL in North America on March 28

Posted February 24, 2010 by James Brightman

At its media summit today in San Francisco, Nintendo of America has announced its launch plans for the new DSi XL. The larger handheld will go on sale for $189.99 throughout North America on March 28. The system will initially be available in two colors: Burgundy and Bronze. The XL will also come pre-loaded with both DSiWare Brain Age games, Photo Clock, the DSi Browser and Flipnote Studio.

The DSi XL will feature two 4.2 inch screens (93 percent larger than the current DS) and comes with a bigger stylus. The XL model also apparently features a better viewing angle - not that the viewing angle was ever really a problem for us on the regular DS.

The XL might be a nice upgrade for people with large hands or who just want a bigger screen, but we're much more curious to find out about the rumored DS2.
