Nintendo might be making a move, and as early as this year’s E3 in June. There have been multiple sources confirming that Nintendo is indeed ready to show off their next console. Game Informer says that Nintendo has developed a new home console capable of running games with HD resolution, and it may be more powerful than PS3 and Xbox 360, says Kotaku.
With analysts calling for the introduction for the Wii successor, Nintendo is hoping to regain the top spot in consoles not only in monthly sales, but also in consumer awareness.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has admitted that Nintendo needs to do a better job with publishing partners. It remains unclear if this new push to HD will allow for Nintendo to pick up triple-A titles such as Call of Duty on the level that is enjoyed on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
It has been discussed that several publishers have already seen the console and were reportedly surprised. Nintendo is allegedly aiming for a 2012 release for the new console, and they are already showing it around for developers to begin work. The reaction has been positive thus far.
"Nintendo is doing this one right," said an anonymous source to Game Informer. "[It's] not a gimmick like the Wii."
This decision could be incredibly fortuitous for Nintendo, as the Wii is starting to decline against the HD consoles. There is talk that the Wii might receive yet another price drop in May.
No other news has been revealed about the console just yet - no comments on the controls, save devices or other important aspects. The news might be confirmed by Nintendo at E3 this year. We'll certainly keep you posted.

Definitely can't wait for E3 to see what all the fuse is about. And I'm super curious to see what Nintendo does next after changing the entire console industry with their motion control system.
