The release of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and the more recent Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii seemingly marked the end of the main trilogy of Metroid games developed by Retro Studios. Kensuke Tanabe, who oversaw the development of the Metroid Prime series, asserts that new Prime games may be coming, at least to the DS.
"We are always planning to make new games in the Metroid Prime series,” said Tanabe to ONM. “Depending on the timing and the situation, we cannot deny the possibility of releasing it on DS or DSi."
It’s hard to glean what this comment exactly means, if anything. It strikes us as more likely that a Metroid Prime Pinball 2 or Metroid Prime Hunters 2 would come to the DS rather than Metroid Prime 4. Metroid series director Yoshio Sakamoto did recently encourage Retro to continue with the Prime series if they had an idea for a sequel. In the meantime, Nintendo is busy collaborating with Team Ninja on Metroid: Other M.

Metroid Prime Hunters was a really great game. The best grafics for the DS and my favorite game, too. Why does anybody hate this game? Yes, the Story Mode kinda sucked but the Multiplayer was Godlike. Played ~600 hours and I know what I played: the best Multiplayergame for the Nintendo DS. 7 modes, 26 maps, 9 Weapons with alternative modes, 7 hunters with alternative forms and a great Wifi multiplayer. You could chat via speak or writing. And it was like the second game for the Nintendo DS. Every DS Fps tried to copy MP:H but none of them could be better. Even the controls were copied by the other Fps´s. Oh, I forgot: there was a comprehensive Hunter license with your stats and you could configure everything from the sound to the aim speed.
