Nintendo Calls Iwata DS Comments 'Misinterpreted'

Posted January 13, 2010 by David Radd

Nintendo CEO and President Satoru Iwata made some surprisingly candid comments last week, saying that the company is working on the successor to the DS that will have “highly detailed graphics” and detect motion. Today, Nintendo backpedaled away from those comments.

"Mr. Iwata did not make any comments regarding the functions of Nintendo's future hardware systems," said Charlie Scibetta, Nintendo of America's senior director of corporate communications to Kotaku. "The answer to the reporter's question was misinterpreted."

This response is notably not a denial of the content of the original quote, and some will certainly take this response like a confirmation that the DS successor described is indeed in the works.

The DS is great and all, but god the revisions need to stop. I know they are just trying to milk money out of the casuals and fanboy tools with as little effort as possible, but seriously they should have stopped at the Lite.
