Nintendo 3DS Price Drop Already In Effect at Wal-Mart

Posted August 9, 2011 by Ben Strauss

The Nintendo 3DS is now within reach of many who believed the handheld to be too expensive, as Wal-Mart has gone ahead and lowered the price of the device from $249.99 to $169.96.  This means big news for any new buyer; the Ambassadors offer will be available to anyone that purchases a 3DS and connected to the 3DS eShop before Nintendo officially drops the price on August 11.

The Ambassador program, originally offered to somewhat apologize to early 3DS adopters, gives a 3DS owner the chance to download 20 free games, 10 coming from NES titles and 10 coming from GBA.

Gamers on the Cheap Ass Gamer forums have had success in getting other retailers to honor the Wal-Mart price.  Many have claimed to get Best Buy to sell them the device for Wal-Mart’s listed price.
