Nintendo 3DS Could Provide 3D Video Recording in Update

Posted January 13, 2011 by Ben Strauss

In the latest interview from Nintendo’s “Iwata Asks” series, legendary designer Shigeru Miyamoto revealed rather enthusiastically, “Iwata-san also wants to include 3D video in the future!”

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, also present at the interview, then added, "I think it will be fun if we're able to include video recording capabilities with future updates."  The 3DS already has a 3D photo feature, so video would be the next logical step.

While no details or even confirmations were offered, the possibility of 3D shooting on the portable remains an exciting possibility. More 3DS launch details for North America will be revealed next week when Nintendo holds its press event on January 19.

I hope they mean a firmware update, as opposed to a feature being introduced later in the inevitable 3DS Lite.
