Nier Director: Kickstarter Would be a 'Very Difficult' Option

Posted February 21, 2012 by M.H. Williams

With the success of Double Fine’s Kickstarter project – currently above $2 million – a number of other companies are exploring the use of the crowd-funding service.  One American fan of the cult-favorite RPG Nier asked game director Yoko Taro if his studio could use Kickstarter to make another RPG.  Taro explained to the fan that it’s not that easy to jump into that kind of production model.

“At first, thank you very much for your message and playing Nier! We (our team) feel proud that Nier is played in France (and other country),” wrote Taro.

“I knew about Mr Tim Schafer's case. That is brave story but I'm afraid to do that. Because Nier isn't made by only me. I need many people. Producers, designers, programmers, (and also player like you). May be I need money, team and good timing. It's very difficult. But I'll try to find that. I promise.”

“Thanks lot again. And I apologize about my poor English,” wrote Taro.

You could be waiting for another Nier for quite some time fans.
